The association event “Urban Planning and Building Regulations in the Era of Urban Regeneration,” organized by the Urban Planning Working Group of Confindustria Assoimmobiliare, took place in Rome on November 26 at the BonelliErede law firm.
The conference served as an occasion to present the Association’s 25th Report, dedicated to “Urban Planning and Building Regulations in the Era of Urban Regeneration. Confindustria Assoimmobiliare’s proposals for reform and simplification,” the result of the work of the Urban Planning Working Group chaired by Guido Inzaghi. During the meeting, the prospects for revising urban planning law and urban regeneration processes were explored in depth, with the aim of examining how they can become a lever for social investment and a driver of sustainable development for cities.
The discussions focused on Urban Planning Law No. 1150 of 1942, examining its evolution in terms of land-use planning and building permits, the interpretations that have developed over time, and possible amendments aimed at updating and simplifying the law. Ample attention was also given to public-private partnership strategies as a tool to support and accelerate urban regeneration initiatives, alongside an analysis of ongoing reforms aimed at making the system more coherent and efficient in light of current urban development needs, to help outline a new model of urban development in which the legislative framework, public and private investments, and design choices converge to transform cities, limit land consumption, and generate economic, social, and environmental value.
