Proposed EU Regulation on “Measures in Member States to Safeguard the Availability and Affordability of Housing”

The housing crisis is, first and foremost, a supply crisis. This was the message conveyed by Davide Albertini Petroni, President of Confindustria Assoimmobiliare, during a hearing before the Senate’s 4th Committee on European Union Policies regarding the proposed EU Regulation on the Affordable Housing Act. He identified two priorities: avoiding restrictions that would end up reducing supply rather than expanding it, and implementing the measures outlined in the Recommendation accompanying the Regulation as soon as possible, starting with the Housing Acceleration Plans.
