As part of the 32nd edition of the Scenari Immobiliari Forum, Confindustria Assoimmobiliare promoted the roundtable discussion “Metropolitan Cities” to create a space for debate with the Urban Planning and Urban Regeneration Councilors of five major Italian cities—Milan, Turin, Genoa, Rome, and Naples—on the future development of cities and the prospects of public-private partnerships. These partnerships are essential tools for achieving strategic objectives such as urban regeneration, improving both the quality and quantity of housing supply and citizen services, and generating social impact through investment and real estate development.
The roundtable, moderated by Francesca Zirnstein, General Director of Scenari Immobiliari, featured a discussion between the President of Confindustria Assoimmobiliare, Davide Albertini Petroni, and Giancarlo Tancredi, Urban Regeneration Councilor of the Municipality of Milan; Maurizio Veloccia, Urban Planning Councilor of Rome Capital; Laura Lieto, Deputy Mayor and Urban Planning Councilor of the Municipality of Naples; Paolo Mazzoleni, Urban Planning Councilor of the Municipality of Turin; and Mario Mascia, Urban Planning Councilor of the Municipality of Genoa.
President Albertini Petroni stated: “We organized this moment of discussion because the use of public-private partnerships is essential to achieving strategic objectives such as urban regeneration, improving both the quality and quantity of housing supply and citizen services, and generating social impact through investment and real estate development. Beyond the unique characteristics of each of these cities, we believe they share the same need to understand the profound social, economic, and demographic changes occurring within them and to identify the best public policies on one hand and the most effective strategies for collaboration with the private sector on the other, in order to provide long-term responses to emerging needs. The opportunities for public-private dialogue and collaboration are vast. As Confindustria Assoimmobiliare, we strongly believe in the contribution that real estate sector operators bring to building citizens’ well-being and generating social value. The better the dialogue with the public sector, the more impactful and far-reaching the contribution will be.”
